About us
Kristen and JD Hoagland both have a deep and rooted passion for the sport of rodeo and love sharing it with others. Kristen grew up in Victoria, Texas, and JD grew up in Melba, Idaho. They met at the Reno Rodeo in the summer of 2005 while competing at the PRCA rodeos out West. Both Kristen and JD's families have been involved in the sport of rodeo and ranching going back three generations.
In high school, Kristen competed in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping, and cutting. She was the All-Around Cowgirl for THSRA Region VIII her senior year. After high school, Kristen went on to college rodeo while a student at Baylor University. JD focused on bull riding in high school but sometimes also competed in team roping. JD went to high school rodeo nationals in bull riding for his state two different times. JD went on to compete professionally as a bull rider for seven years after high school.
Since 2011, Kristen and JD have had the privilege of training horses and kids in the sport of rodeo. Two of their students made it to nationals for junior high and high school rodeo on horses that were trained through their program. Many of their students and horses went on to the Texas State Finals in multiple events. During this time, Kristen was able to compete and fill her PRCA permit in barrel racing on two horses that she and JD started and trained.
Kristen and JD love introducing students to horses and the sport of rodeo. Some students end up deciding they want to compete, but many also just enjoy learning to ride and getting to use rodeo events as the avenue for that. Kristen and JD love their family and stay busy with their 5 kids. Each of their kids rides and competes to some degree. It is a joy to get to share what they love with their family!
